Atlanta Public Schools

Ten highly motivated students make up Youth Advisory Council, a group dedicated to curating transformative experiences and crafting innovative strategies aimed at fostering year-round civic engagement among their peers. These young leaders participate in a series of workshops and immersive experiences specially designed to unveil the fascinating intersections between culture, commerce, civics, and community.
Through their unwavering dedication and unparalleled enthusiasm, the Youth Advisory Council members strive to ignite a passion for civic engagement among their peers while making it fun. By spearheading initiatives, organizing celebratory events, and encouraging dialogue around pressing social issues, they aim to empower a new generation of informed and active citizens committed to shaping a better future for themselves and their communities.

Radaisha Henry
Benjamin E. Mays High School
Radaisha Henry is a 17-year-old cancer survivor that enjoys writing poetry, volunteering in her community, reading, and listening to podcasts. She plans to pursue a career in Biomedical Science and Business administration.

Stella Steely
Maynard H. Jackson High School
Stella Steely is passionate about her community and the problems within the world. She plans to pursue a career in Medicine, specifically women’s health. In her free time, she loves sewing, knitting, crocheting, and any kind of arts or craft she can get her hands on. Stella organizes women’s health seminars at her school and serves as a volunteer at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.

Marcus Daniels
The B.E.S.T Academy
Marcus Daniels is a 16-year-old and a Junior at The B.E.S.T Academy. He is a member of the National Honor Society, the Debate Tam, and a researcher for Georgia Tech’s ENGAGES program. Marcus plans to pursue a degree in Bio-Medical Engineering with a minor in Political Science from Georgia Tech.

Moriah McNair
D.M. Therrell High School
Moriah McNair Moriah is active in Chorus, Dance, Cheer, National Honor Society, Beta Club, GO Team, and the Academic Decathlon. She also loves to serve and help her community through voluntarism and other activities.

Antonia Thompson
Benjamin E. Mays High School
Antonia Thompson is a Senior at Benjamin E. Mays High School. She loves being surrounded by motivated people and individuals who are always being their authentic selves.

Drew Millman
Maynard H. Jackson High School
Drew Millman is passionate about literature, wildlife conservation, environmental justice, and climate support. She enjoys doing her best to bring comfort and enjoyment to her peers.

Kathryn “Kat” Walden
North Atlanta High School
Kathyrn Walden is a Senior star athlete at North Atlant High School. She plans to pursue a career in Psychology and is interested in benefitting the welfare of everyone in her community and beyond through the Atlanta Youth Advisory Council.

Ja’Marion Gibbs
South Atlanta High School
Ja’Marion Gibbs goes above and beyond in his community to achieve change. He is on the Soccer Team and raises money for the Dukes Foundation. He aspires to inspire youth in Atlanta to participate in civic life.

Annie Ware
Spelman College
Annie Ware is the Salutatorian of the Carver Early College Class of 2023, a Gates Scholar, and a Freshman at Spelman College pursuing a degree in Political Science with a minor in Writing. Annie plans to attend law school after Spelman, currently serves as a collegiate Advisor for the 2023 Youth Advisory Council, and volunteers with several organizations in her community.
